Winter Forms
Jämsä, Finland, 2026
A quiet winter scene shaped by repetition, snowfall, and time.
This photograph was created during a silent frost day in Jämsä, where a wide field of cattails lined the edge of a frozen lake. Snow had fallen gently for several days, slowly accumulating on the tips of the reeds. Over time, the soft snowdrifts transformed the scene into something almost abstract.
Each cattail became a small sculptural form, repeating across the landscape. The light was muted, the air still, and the atmosphere unbroken by movement or sound. What began as a simple winter shoreline revealed itself as a playful yet contemplative composition — minimal, rhythmic, and quietly balanced.
Winter Forms explores the calm found in repetition and restraint. It captures a fleeting winter moment where nature simplifies itself, allowing form, texture, and space to speak without distraction.
